You Are Now in Bedford Falls

Two years ago, I made a brief thoughtful journal entry after our yearly viewing of It’s A Wonderful Life. In hindsight, it seems almost prophetic, written as it was just a few months before the Potters of the world began to flaunt their power and control in a way few of us have seen in our lifetime before. Since this year is the movie’s 75th anniversary, it seemed fitting to share this small reflection on what a beloved story has given me:

Watching “It’s a Wonderful Life” did me good this year. What I took away from it was—it doesn’t really matter who’s got hold of the bank and the bus line and the department store; most of life goes on just the same. All that matters is that you maintain your integrity in the piece of the world’s work that lies in your own hands—keep one little corner that hasn’t sold out to Potter—and you’ll be okay. And you have no idea who you may unknowingly help or influence along the way.

Merry Christmas, you wonderful old Building and Loan.
